Our round up of the best local foodie destinations...

Set slap-bang in the heart of Ruby Country and almost equidistant from both the moors and coast, this area of Devon is thoroughly spoilt when it comes to produce. We’ve spent some time compiling a list of the best food destinations in our local area.

On our doorstep

In Hatherleigh itself, we have two historic Inns, an excellent café and a fish & chip shop.

The Tally Ho!

‘The Tally’ is A C15, Grade II listed Inn with its own on-site brewery. Ady and the team at The Tally Ho serve a range of locally sourced dishes, from pub-grub favourites, to locally reared steaks, plus hearty vegetarian options, all the way through to ‘Ady’s Extra Hot Burmese Curry’ . Steeped in history, you’ll find this pub to be brimming with crooked beams, large open fireplaces as well as having a sunny beer garden to the rear.

The George Hotel

Originally a historic C15 Inn, the original building tragically burnt down in December 2008. However, after a sensitive rebuild, it now offers cosy boutique accommodation, a lively bar and home-cooked meals, with a sunny courtyard beer garden at the back.

One Market Street Café

Located on the bend in the road where Bridge Street meets Market Street, you’ll be sure to find a cosy spot from which to enjoy a selection of delicious home-cooked bakes, breakfasts and lunches. Hannah and Tom also provide catering for parties, plus simply AMAZING cakes for all manner of celebrations.

Hatherleigh Fish Bar

A proper small-town chippie with a twist – as well as the usual battered goodies you’ll also find a hearty selection of Chinese dishes to take-away, too!
