The former clay pits at Meeth cover around 150 hectares and were purchased by Devon Wildlife Trust in recent years. Following a carefully structured re-wilding programme, the reserve is now largely made up of moorland grasses, lakes, ponds and woodland, it now provides a rich habitat to countless native wildlife species. If you’re heading to Meeth, pack yourself a picnic and a pair of binoculars, enjoy the peaceful surroundings from one of the many secluded picnic benches and clearings – marvel at what can be achieved in a once industrial landscape!
